Argentina golden visa (citizenship by investment)

What the Argentina Golden Visa Is

The Argentina golden visa is the country’s new citizenship by investment program, created in 2025. It gives you Argentine citizenship and passport in exchange for a qualifying investment, without having to live in Argentina first. A new agency within the Ministry of Economy reviews each application, and the immigration office makes the final decision. It’s one of several paths we handle as immigration lawyers in Argentina.

How Much You Need to Invest

The main applicant can choose between a non-refundable contribution of USD 350,000 to the National Treasury or a USD 800,000 subscription to a government bond created for the program. Each family member adds USD 100,000 for a spouse or an unmarried child aged 18 to 25, or USD 25,000 for a child under 18. Paying does not guarantee approval: every application goes through background and source-of-funds checks.

When the Program Opens

Applications are expected to open in the last part of 2026, once the Ministry of Economy publishes the final procedure. We’re already accepting clients to prepare their applications, so your documents, source-of-funds evidence, apostilles and translations are ready on day one.

Golden Visa vs. Investor Residency

Don’t confuse the golden visa with Argentina’s older investor visa (inversionista). The investor visa gives you temporary residency in exchange for a productive investment, and citizenship only later, after years of living here. The golden visa gives you citizenship directly. We help you choose the one that fits your goals and budget.

Who you’ll work with

Meet Your Argentine Golden Visa Lawyer, Elias Kier Joffe

Hi, I’m Elias Kier Joffe. My grandfather founded this firm in Buenos Aires in 1940, and I’m the third generation leading it.

I know what you’re facing, because my own family lived it. All my great-grandparents, on both my father’s and my mother’s side, came to Argentina as immigrants from Russia, Ukraine and Poland. They arrived in a new country, with a new language and very little else, and built a life here. I’m the result of their courage. Today, my job is to make that same journey easier for you.

I oversee every case personally, and I’ll always tell you the truth about your case, even when it’s not what you want to hear.

You’ll always know who’s looking after your case: me.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the Argentina golden visa?

It’s Argentina’s citizenship by investment program, created in 2025. It gives you Argentine citizenship and passport in exchange for a qualifying investment, without having to live in Argentina first.

Do I need to be in Argentina to apply?

No, you don’t need to live in Argentina before applying. We prepare your file from home. If any step requires you to be in Argentina, we tell you in advance and we’re with you when you arrive. Investors from India, China and other countries that need a visa to visit Argentina can apply too, and we’re happy to assist them.

How long does the golden visa process take?

Applications are expected to open in the last part of 2026. Once the investment and background checks are complete, a decision is expected within about 30 business days. We give you a realistic timeline in your video consultation.

How much does a golden visa lawyer cost in Argentina?

It depends on your case, how many family members are included and the work involved. After your video consultation, we send you a written quote. The investment, government fees, apostilles and translations are separate, and we explain them to you in advance.

How much do I need to invest?

USD 350,000 as a non-refundable contribution to the National Treasury, or USD 800,000 in a government bond. Add USD 100,000 for a spouse or an unmarried child aged 18 to 25, and USD 25,000 for each child under 18. Paying does not guarantee approval.

Why isn’t the immigration consultation free?

Because our time is the service we offer. We receive many immigration inquiries every day, and many come from people who are only gathering free information, with no real intention of hiring a lawyer. We’re attorneys, not a free government helpline, and we can’t give away our time and knowledge. In practice, we’ve found that people who are serious about moving to Argentina are happy to invest in a consultation, because they value getting the right answer from an experienced lawyer. That’s why we offer a paid 50-minute video consultation with Elias Kier Joffe, where we assess your situation and go over the visa and residency options available to you. The USD 100 fee is paid in advance and is credited toward our legal fees if you hire us. If paying for a consultation feels wrong to you, we’re probably not the right fit, and that’s okay. If you’re committed to your move, we’re confident you’ll find it well worth it.
