Why You Need an Argentine Divorce Certificate
In Argentina, a divorce is recorded as a note in the margin of the marriage certificate (partida de matrimonio con nota de divorcio). That updated certificate is what most offices abroad accept as proof of divorce. You may need it to remarry, change your name, update your marital status for immigration, or settle an estate. Most institutions ask for a recent certified copy, not an old one. It’s one of the certificates we handle as part of our Argentina vital records service.
A Real Law Firm, Not a Faceless Website
Most certificate websites in Argentina are anonymous. We’re a law firm with a name and a face: we started getting these certificates for our own probate cases, because every estate in Argentina has to prove whether the person was married or divorced, and after years of doing it every week we opened the service to everyone. When you send us a request, attorney Elias Kier Joffe and his team are behind it.
What We Need to Find the Record
The full names of both former spouses, the date and the city or province where they married and, if you know them, the date of the divorce and the court that granted it. ID numbers or a photo of an old copy help a lot. If you don’t have every detail, tell us what you know: we search the right civil registry and tell you upfront what’s realistic.
Apostille, Translation and Delivery
If you’ll use the certificate outside Argentina, we get the apostille and, if needed, a certified translation into English. You get a digital copy as soon as it’s ready and the original by international courier, wherever you live.
One Point of Contact for Legal, Tax and Notarial Matters
We are a one-stop legal solution. Our team includes lawyers, accountants, Argentine notaries (escribanos) and certified translators, all under one roof and coordinated by attorney Elias Kier Joffe. When needed, we also work directly with your own lawyers back home, for example on your citizenship application or the estate you’re settling.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do I get proof of my Argentine divorce from abroad?
Fill out the request form on this page. We find the record in the right civil registry, get the apostille and translation if you need them, and send the certificate to you.
Do I need to travel to Argentina?
No. We handle everything in Argentina and send the certificate to you anywhere in the world.
What if the divorce note doesn’t appear on the marriage certificate?
Sometimes the court never sent the divorce to the civil registry. With the court and the case details, we check the file and tell you upfront what’s needed to get the divorce registered, so the note appears on your certificate.
How much does an Argentine divorce certificate cost?
It depends mainly on the year and the province. Recent records, from around 1990 onward, are usually easier to get than older ones, which can need a manual search in the archives. The City of Buenos Aires is the easiest, because its registry is centralized; the Province of Buenos Aires and the rest of the provinces usually take more work. The price also depends on whether you need a copy of the court ruling, an apostille or a translation, and on the delivery. Fill out the form and we reply within 24 hours with a written quote.
Will the certificate be accepted abroad?
Tell us which office or consulate will receive it. We get a recent certified copy with the apostille and translation they require.
